As you may be aware we have two charter schools in Franklin Township. Both are planning to expand and a third charter is trying to open in 2018. Charters cost our district almost 10 million dollars this school year and that could grow to more than 12 million in a few years. Charters absorbed 37% of our budget increase this year, yet they educate only 8% of the students. Their appointed school board allows for no oversight from tax payers. Their discriminatory acceptance practices rarely allow for special education students or ELL and are a cause of segregation in our community.
We must take action to stop charter school growth in Franklin. Please sign and share this petition to tell Trenton that Franklin Township does not want or need any more charter schools.
